info
The VFAA formed in February 2005 to create art, teach techniques, and encourage fellowship among artists in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. Thereby we also strive to promote a supportive attitude toward visual arts in our Alaskan community.
We are a group of artists in the Mat-Su valley. We welcome beginners, students, part-time and professional artists who focus mainly on two-dimensional art mediums, want to connect with other artists and gain more exposure locally.
During the school year, VFAA organizes regular sessions for painting together and hosts monthly artist demonstrations at Mat-Su college. Throughout the year, we inform our members about opportunities to show their work, participate in group events, view other local artists, and enroll in workshops.
Membership with the Valley Fine Arts Association provides many diverse opportunities for artists. Check our Calendar page for upcoming events!

Members Susan McNeil and Dee Tunseth get to focus on their painting at an Open Art session.
PAINT TOGETHER FEBRUARY 1st: We will be back at Mat-Su College for our February 1st Open Art Session from 4:00pm - 8:00pm.
Bring a snack to share and a project to work on.

DISPLAY YOUR ARTWORK
You asked for it, so we now have 4 places to display our artwork in the community:
-Wasilla Senior Center
(40 paintings) Change out four times a year. Need someone in charge.
-Alpine Grill
(Group shows) Change out twice a year. Karen Crandall in charge.
-Pandemonium Changes out every month. Karen Crandall in charge.
-DMV Express - aka Alaska Title and Tags
Room for two people with approximately 7 paintings each. Change out 4 times a year. Need someone to take charge of this venue.
PLEASE SIGN UP FOR A SHOW! It does us no good to have venues if no one is interested in showing their art. Besides, what does it do for you to have your artwork stacked up at home!!!! Get it out there and get it displayed.
We have space at the 2010 Alaska State Fair. If you are interested in this event, please contact Ilene Paulsen: 376-6556 or bpaulsen@mtaonline.net.
